Free Bowling Night for Rancho Families To-Be

    Hosted by the Missouri Campus of Rancho Solano Private Schools. The event, geared toward current families and those interested in enrolling at the school, is designed to be a fun, less-structured way to get to know the Rancho community. The 58-year-old non-sectarian, co-ed private school located at 240 W.     The event includes dinner, silent auction and entertainment by Phoenix Union students. A Friend of Phoenix Union, and a distinguished alumnus also will be honored. Proceeds benefit college scholarships for Phoenix Union graduates. Tickets start at $150 per person. Last year, $128,000 in scholarships was awarded to 71 seniors.

Hospice Volunteer Training

    Volunteers provide respite for caregivers, read and visit with patients, run errands and offer emotional support. Most hospice care is provided in patients’ homes. Volunteers must attend all orientation sessions. Registration is required.

    Proceeds benefit Beth El Congregation in support of its community and educational events and programs. This show emulates the style and sound of the Motown era with many other influences combined. The music is fun for all ages. ‘Geronimo and  Chiricahua Apache Culture’

    Author and researcher Robert Utley will discuss Geronimo’s Chiricahua Apache culture and how well he adhered to it. Prominent features of the culture as specially related to Geronimo will be the distinction between war and raid; his relationship with Usen, the Chiricahua deity and creator; the concept of personal power; and his relationship to ceremonies, rituals and traditions. Sunnyslope Historical Society Annual Meeting

    There will be an election for the board of directors, followed by guest speaker Frank Melluzzo, a prominent Sunnyslope businessman and miner who located more than 20 gold mining claims and acquired many parcels of property. Melluzzo and his family donated the property where the museum is now located. Admission is free.

5K Memorial Run/Walk

    The inaugural run is in honor of baseball and football coach Jeff Pankenier, who passed away in September. Check-in is at 8 a.m. The walk commences at 9:10 a.m. Entry fees are $20 for adults, and $10 for students.
