The event, geared toward current families and those interested in enrolling at the school, is designed to be a fun, less-structured way to get to know the Rancho community. Prominent features of the culture as specially related to Geronimo will be the distinction between war and raid; his relationship with Usen, the Chiricahua deity and creator; the concept of personal power; and his relationship to ceremonies, rituals and traditions. Sunnyslope Historical Society Annual Meeting 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 Sunnyslope History Museum 737 E. Hatcher Road There will be an election for the board of directors, followed by guest speaker Frank Melluzzo, a prominent Sunnyslope businessman and miner who located more than 20 gold mining claims and acquired many parcels of property. Melluzzo and his family donated the property where the museum is now located. Admission is free.

5K Memorial Run/Walk 9 a.m. Saturday, March 3 North High School 1101 E. Thomas Road The inaugural run is in honor of baseball and football coach Jeff Pankenier, who passed away in September. Check-in is at 8 a.m. The walk commences at 9:10 a.m. Entry fees are $20 for adults, and $10 for students. Proceeds will provide a scholarship fund for senior athletes from North High School.
