Pet of the month: Rodney given a second chance

Rodney is a 2-year-old heartthrob that will melt any feline fancier’s heart with his warm personality. This handsome black-and-white, shorthaired cat was found knocking at death’s door before he was rescued.

Rodney was discovered by a homeowner in a back yard after Rodney had jumped the fence and landed on a metal rod that was impaled into his body. The homeowner quickly rescued him and brought him to the AHS shelter with the rod still in him. He received immediate treatment at the Second Chance Animal Hospital™. After surgery and a good night’s rest, Rodney was on the road to recovery and he was sent to a foster home to heal.

Rodney’s foster parents say that he is exceptionally sweet and loves to cuddle with those whom he loves most. He is a very quiet and easygoing kitty who would appreciate a home where he can relax and spend his days lounging around the house. He must stay indoors because who knows what kind of mischief this adventurous kitty could get into next if he was let outside to explore.  He loves to gaze out large windows and warm his fur in the sunshine.

Rodney is a bit shy around other pets and children. He may be able to adjust to a boisterous household with a slow introduction to his new home although he would do best in a home where he was the center of attention.

You can adopt Rodney now at the Arizona Humane Society’s Sunnyslope facility, located at 9226 N. 13th Ave. His adoption fee is $20 because he is a member of the Lonely Hearts club. This fee covers the expense of his complicated surgery to remove the rod from his stomach, as well as his neuter surgery, vaccination, a follow-up veterinary exam, a colorful collar, and an AHS I.D. tag. If you have any questions about Rodney, call 602-997-7586, ext. 2045 and ask for animal I.D. number A254386.

Please note that this pet might have been adopted by the time you visit the shelter, however, the AHS has dozens more wonderful pets that also need loving homes. To see all adoptable animals right now, visit www.azhumane. org/findapet.
