The Phoenix Union High School District Governing Board approved a hike to district dwellers’ current property taxes during its June 25 meeting. The increase will bring in an estimated $9,564,710 to the district.
The district raised its primary property levy over the previous level at the start of the new fiscal year, which began on July 1, to pay for increased expenditures in those areas where the Governing Board has the authority to increase property taxes.
The increase will cause Phoenix Union High School District’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to increase from $82.76 to $96.65.
The increase is exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter-approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides.
In addition, this tax rate was calculated at the maximum amount of increase assuming no change to the current funding formula. This primary property tax levy does not take into account any Legislative budget cuts for fiscal year 2009/2010 which could cause the property tax increase to be less than indicated above.
