Block party returns to Indian School Road

The Second Annual “Indian School Corridor–Partners in Prosperity” block party will take place 12-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, on Indian School Road between 32nd and 38th streets. The event is produced by RequirethePrior.org and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) Charities.

Last year’s block party turned Indian School Road into a pedestrian street for the first time in the history of Phoenix and attracted 15,000 Phoenicians. The event, which has free admission, will includes three separate entertainment stages with varied educational presentations as well as local musicians.

In addition, there will be a Classic Car Show that will run down the middle of the Block Party from 34th to 36th streets; a Fine Art Show featuring local artists sponsored by the Arizona Art Alliance; a Kids Zone with Jumping Castle, a Safe Kids I.D. station, and Deb’s Dragons, a hands-on reptile and animal exhibit; a slider eating contest at Chicago Hamburger Co.; and a local celebrity dunk tank sponsored by Mamma Mia Pizza.

The goals of the block party event are to raise awareness of the work of Require the Prior.org and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) Charities, and to highlight and celebrate the unique bond between the community and the frontline officers who protect it.

The “Partners in Prosperity” block party will give financial support to the PLEA Charities in gratitude to the families of officers that have been wounded or killed in the line of duty, as well as to St. Vincent DePaul, a charity that gives full service support to the homeless. Other charities that will benefit from the event include Kids Street Park Marc Atkinson Recreation Center, and the Sheriff’s Youth Assistance Foundation.
