Basketball Skills contest at Longview

The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department’s Longview Neighborhood Recreation Center hosts the IHOOPS Skills Challenge, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27. Boys and girls from 9 to 14 years of age are eligible to participant in this free event.

    The competition provides an opportunity to showcase their basketball talents in a time-based, half court obstacle course. First-place winners will have the opportunity to advance to one of twenty-nine regional competitions in NBA team markets across the country with the possibility of advancing to the National Finals in Orlando, Fla.

    Participants may register the day of the event and must bring a copy of their birth certificate with a completed registration/waiver form. The Longview Recreation Center is located 4040 N. 14th St. A copy of the registration/waiver form also is available online at www.iHoops.com/skillschallenge.
