RAMMS celebrates Opening Day |
RAMMS held its 2010 Baseball and Softball Opening Day celebration March 6 at Simis Elementary School. This event kicks off the 2010 season for approximately 700 players who will play games at Simis and Meadows through May. Kevin Hanson, RAMMS president, welcomed players and families by recapping the contributions RAMMS makes to the community through sports. RAMMS plays back-to-back seasons of co-ed baseball/softball, volleyball, basketball and recently added flag football. Each year more than 1,600 children of the North Central community have the opportunity to experience recreational sports, supported by local businesses and families. Distinguished guests at this year’s event included: local TV personality, Dan Davis, who emceed the event; Joel Miller, owner of Maize’s on Central, generous RAMMS supporter, and food sponsor for this event; Joyce Flowers, principal at Simis; Susan Doyle, principal at Meadows; and members of the Madison District School Board including Board Chair Pamela Kelly, who along with Joel Miller threw out the first pitch.
