A musical tale of ancient civilizations

Upper elementary students from the AmeriSchools Academy–Camelback will educate and entertain their audience at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, as they explore the wonders of ancient civilization in “Dig It!”

Watch the adventures of archeologists Taki and Tut and their friend Lucy, the 3 million year old skeleton discovered in November of 1974 in Ethiopia. Learn the history of ancient civilizations as Egyptian mummies do a “rap” to a chorus of ancient Greeks. Hear about the dynasties of India and China and experience a toga party at the coliseum in ancient Rome.

As the history lesson turns to ancient Greece, Sophocles, Herodotus and the Greek chorus will perform a circle dance called “Greece is the Word.”

The free performance will take place in the multipurpose room at AmeriSchools Academy, 1333 W. Camelback Road. All are welcome. For more information, call 602-532-0100.
