Three members of the Arizona Alfa Romeo Owner’s Club—Jay Fuller, Dick Botkin, and Bill Greenslade—wanted to celebrate the 100th birthday of Alfa Romeo as well as help a charity. “Le Bellezze d’ Italia” Car Show was the result, set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 at The Arizona American Italian Club, 7509 N. 12th St.
The car show will benefit Operation HomeFront of Arizona, which helps Arizona military families and wounded soldiers (http://www.operationhome front.net/Arizona/default.aspx)..
Although Alfa Romeo remains the focus, the event also has attracted Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Panteras. The Desert Chapter of Fiat Lancia Unlimited hopes to have a Fiat from each decade from the ’30s to the ’80s represented, and The Ferrari Club of America, Desert Region, has also promised a field of Prancing Stallions. Local musicians, James ‘JT’ Taylor of Island Steel Drums, and The BluesHounds have volunteered their talents.
A barbecue Italian sausage sandwich lunch along with water, soda and a full bar will be available. A bocce tournament for the car owners is scheduled as well as a raffle and an auction for the charity.
Admission is free to the public, The cost to register a car for the show is $25 for the first and $15 for additional cars. The deadline to register is Sept. 22. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. the morning of the show.
