AAEC Paradise Valley expands programs

The Arizona Agribusiness and Equine Center (AAEC) Early College High School program based at Paradise Valley Community College announced its new Veterinary Science Certificate Program. The program complements the highly successful, nationally recognized Equine Studies Program, which has been developed over the last seven years.

AAEC’s preparation in both these areas is consistent with its college preparatory mission. Students, not only in core academic classes, but also in Certificate courses are prepared for further study in four-year universities.

Current Veterinary courses are: Animal Science, Introduction to Veterinary Science, and Animal Anatomy and Physiology I and II. Animal Disease I and II and Clinical Studies I and II will be introduced as students proceed through the course sequence. Courses such as Equine Science, Herd Health, Equine Nutrition and Equine Reproduction will continue to be offered.

AAEC operates four sites on or adjacent to Maricopa County Community College campuses. High school students, upon evidence of academic and social readiness, begin coursework at the community college as an integrated part of their academic day and work toward a significant accrual of credits that will be transferrable to four-year universities. Comprehensive core academic classes are offered, however, AAEC programs specialize in several science and agribusiness areas.
