The 2007-09 edition of the People’s Information Guide, which provides updated information about free and low-cost programs to help low-income families and individuals facing financial challenges throughout Arizona, is now available.
Published by The Arizona Community Action Association (ACAA), the 104-page guide is free and can be found at food banks and Community Action Agency offices statewide and the ACAA office at 2700 N. 3rd St., Suite 3040. A Spanish-language version will be available in the first quarter of 2008. The People’s Information Guide is available at no cost thanks to the support of sponsors including Evercare Medical Advantage, a program of United Healthcare, APS, SRP, the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Arizona Department of Health Services, Bashas’, Southwest Gas, Arizona Department of Housing and Maricopa County Human Services Division. The ACAA printed 200,000 copies of the guide. “The guide is designed to help individuals and families find services and programs to prevent them from falling into deeper financial crises,” said ACAA Executive Director Cynthia Zwick. The guide is divided into alphabetical sections that include Aging Services; Children’s Services; Disability Services; Domestic Violence Services; Employment, Training and Education; Financial Benefits; Food and Nutrition; Health Care; Homeless; Housing, Home Repair and Weatherization; Transportation; Utility and Short Term Crisis Services; and Additional Resources (DES Family Assistance offices, Emergency and Disaster Assistance, Indigent Burial Information, Legal Assistance and Veteran’s Services). Each section includes program descriptions, eligibility information for individual programs and contact information by county.
