All Saints’ Choristers sing at Carnegie Hall |
For the second time in their history, the Choristers of All Saints’ traveled to New York City to sing at Carnegie Hall. The group performed John Rutter’s Mass of the Children for a Nov. 30 performance under the baton of the composer. The Choristers were joined by 10 other youth choirs from across the United States and Canada.
The chorister program was created in the early 1990s for boys in grades four through eight through a collaboration with Father Carl G. Carlozzi; Scott Youngs, organist and choir director at the church; music teacher Paula Humpage; and former music teacher Irene Tseng. The boys rehearsed weekly, sang at Saturday church services, and traveled to sing with other groups throughout the Southwest. In 1995 a determined group of girls convinced Youngs to form the girl choristers and the two groups eventually merged. They continue to sing at various church and school services and events throughout the Southwest. More than 30 choristers, accompanied by friends and family members, were thrilled to be a part of this musical opportunity. The children included Iya Agha, Alexis Allard, Clare Beymer, Julia Burke, Natalie Chapin, Hannah Cianci, Julia Cornella, Joseph Cornella, Juliana Crozier, Jacqueline Dickey, Michael Feeney, Alison Getz, Chip Getz, Maya Granger, Melissa Head, Briana Latter, John Legris, Elizabeth McGovern, Alexandra Melikian, Arra Melikian, Megan Mullin, Lily Munoz, Molly Murphy, Hannah Pai, Ashton Paterson, Kate Pokorski, Katie Roman, Scarlet Rush, Margaret Seid, Jacqueline Tait, Rebecca Troche and Claire Woodrow.
