And the jingle winner is ... |
Congratulations to Gail Fanning, the winner of the METRO light rail jingle contest. North Central News readers had a chance to write a jingle in commemoration of the light rail opening. The jingle was to be written to the tune of “Jingle Bells.” Fanning received four limited edition Preview Passes, designed by Tempe-based, internationally renowned artist Todd McFarlane (Spawn, Spider-man). McFarlane’s design served as the “golden ticket” to Fanning and three guests to get on one of the preview rides, which took place on Dec. 26. The light rail opened to the public on Dec. 27.
Here is Fanning’s winning jingle:
“While sitting in my car, in a traffic jam I sat and hummed this tune Wishing we had a tram.
Now Light Rail has arrived The Valley is alive Instead of driving in your car Enjoy the light rail ride.
Light Rail’s here Give a cheer METRO’S going green Come along Phoenicians Ride in our new machine
You will find It’s divine Not driving in your car Read the paper or a book Or just look out afar.”
