Women’s self-defense class held

April has been deemed Sexual Assault Awareness Month by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, a national information and resource hub for all aspects pertaining to sexual violence. To help women empower themselves against sexual assault, David Karstadt, Taekwon-Do Black Belt Master Instructor and founder of AZ Kicks, will host “Self-Defense for Women–Awareness & Action” on Saturday, April 4.

Karstadt will focus on setting personal boundaries, diffusing verbal aggression, recognizing physical threats, practical self-defense and “escape” techniques, and more.

The workshop takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. at AZ Kicks, 5555 N. 7th Ave., Ste. 112. The cost is $49 per person. Bring a friend and that friend gets in free. Call 602-264-2300 to register.
